arps

I'd like to edit a preset ARP and save it as a user arp. I can't seem to find a way to name User arps and save them like presets.

you can't. user arps can be edited, preset arps cannot be edited. an edited user arp can be stored in a patch.

It would have been useful to be able to make arps and store them as user arps rather than store them just as part of patches. Will they incorporate the idea in future software releases?

...there was a feature in OS2 to lock certain areas of a patch... just can't find it right now in OS3... but this allowed to lock the arp, then select any other patches while the arp remains the same. When you've found the combination you like - store this as new patch. With this you also could save "arp prototype" patches.

section locking is available in OS3, the way you access it hasn't changed.

...true - just right click the section tab on top of an element you want to lock and choose option from context menu... :D

That's useful but hardly the same as being able to store an arp.

Generally you don't think to yourself " this arp'll work nicely here" and design a sound to fit the arp. You'd have to make a note of the OSC and filter sections and maybe some complex LFO stuff of the sound you want and start dialing them in to the patch with the arp you liked. It would be easier to write down the rhythm of the arp on a scrap piece of paper and dial that in to the sound that's mostly right.

currently there are no plans to store arp patterns outside a patch.
