How to store configuration settings

How do you store the global configuration settings in the Virus TI? Specifically, I'm trying to save the settings that control the LED's on the LFO's. The manual says there is no need to store them, but when I turn the unit off and on, the settings are lost.

Could it be that the Virus' backup battery is dead? If your Virus is several years old and you keep it disconnected for long periods of time, the chances of that happening are higher.

Hmmm I'm not sure. It's the original TI, several years old. It stores all of my patches fine when I power down, just not the config settings...
